Who we are

About Lion Whisper Safaris

Lion Whisper Safaris is a Tanzania-born, Tanzania-run operator headquartered in Arusha. Every itinerary is shaped — and led — by guides who were raised on these plains. We design the kind of trip we'd give to our own families.

Our story

Five years in the field. Twenty as a team.

Lion Whisper Safaris started where every good thing in this industry does — around a fire at the end of a long day. After five years guiding for other companies, I wanted to build something smaller and sharper: a Tanzanian operator that put guides and guests in the same conversation from day one.

Today our team has more than twenty years of pooled experience across the northern circuit. We've tracked lions in the Seronera, watched calving herds spill into the Ndutu plains, and coaxed nervous first-timers into their first leopard sighting. We know the country because we live here.

The name? On safari, you learn that lions don't really roar to threaten — they roar to talk. To call across the dark. We thought that was a good thing to listen for.

What we stand for

Three things non-negotiable.

Safety, always

Modern Land Cruisers under 3 years old. Satellite comms in every vehicle. First-aid trained guides. Every trip monitored 24/7 from our Arusha ops desk, with medevac partners on standby across the country.

English-speaking local guides

Born here, raised here, trained here. Every guide is fluent in English (French on request), KPSGA-certified, and reads the bush — not a radio. The person planning your trip is the person who'll be in the vehicle with you.

Care for the land

We partner only with lodges that protect concessions, employ locally, and reinvest in the parks. We don't book overcrowded camps or anything that exploits cultural communities. Tanzania's wild isn't a backdrop — it's home.

How we work

From first email to airport pickup.

  1. 01

    Tell us your story

A 30-minute call (Zoom or WhatsApp) with the guide who will be in your vehicle. We ask about dates, party, budget, mobility, what you've seen before and what you've always pictured.

  2. 02

    Draft itinerary in 48 hours

Day-by-day plan with three accommodation options at each stop — luxury, premium, comfort. Transparent pricing. Nothing booked yet.

  3. 03

    Refine together

We iterate until it's right. Most trips go through 2–3 rounds. No pressure, no upsells, no shifting prices.

  4. 04

    Confirm with 20% deposit

Balance due 45 days before arrival. From here, we book everything: lodges, park fees, charter flights, transfers, even the Zanzibar dhow.

  5. 05

    On the ground

Your guide meets you at JRO with your name on a board. From that moment until we drop you back at the airport, every detail is handled — 24/7 ops support is always one WhatsApp away.
